Ipsy December 2012

Ipsy is a subscription beauty 'box'. I first heard about these on reddit and didn't know they existed until this month. I thought the idea of them was amazing and since getting new make-up products every month is like Christmas I thought I will hop onto that train fast. I signed up and unfortunately I missed out on November but I was very excited for December! It is 10 dollars a month which is a steal considering you are getting fullsize or deluxe samples every month and a cute little bag. I heard in the past their service wasn't so great but as showcased by the December bag, they have really stepped up their game and really improved the products they were sending out.

The bags ship out the 10th of every month and I got mine yesterday which means it was really fast! I've been anxiously waiting for it. It comes in a really cute hot pink shipping bag that I am sure I will reuse if I need to send something out in the future.

Everything in the bag. It came with five items, three of them (The Lipgloss, Primer and Pigment) being full size which is a great deal. The other two (Eyeliner and Highlighter Sheets) are deluxe sized and still have a ton of product.  It came in a metallic brown/silver bag that is cute and has a nice pink lining. The estimated worth of the bag is ~75$ which is an amazing deal for only 10$. What you get was..

NYX Pearl Eyeshadow [Full Size | 3$]
You were able to get this in 10 different colours and I'm not a huge wearer of dark eyeshadows because I am awful at applying it and usually end up looking like a raccoon. Regardless, it is a very pretty shimmery dark gray colour and it is very pigmented. I'm just glad I didn't get yellow.

Urban Decay 24/7 Eye Pencil in Zero [Sample Size | 14$]
A basic black eyeliner always makes me happy. This stuff is absolutely perfect for using it on my waterline because it doesn't budge nor irritate my eyes. The staying power is excellent and it is nice and vibrant. Even for a Sample Size, this will last for a fairly long time. This is probably my favourite thing from this whole batch.

Mai Couture Highlighter Paper [Sample Size | 14$]
I wasn't really looking forward to this one because I'm not particularily savvy at make-up so this was deemed difficult in my eyes. The packaging is really cute and fancy looking and it would look adorable in a purse but practicality wise, I'm not in love with this. The paper is quite messy and putting it on, I don't know what parts of the paper I've used already.. Also the colour is unflattering on me. It's kind of the same that's on the paper? It's a highlighty shimmery orange colour. I'm pretty pale so it just makes me look burnt. Unfortunate, but at least the packaging is pretty.

Mirabella Prime for Face and Eyes [Full Size | 30$]
Welp, seems I forgot a picture for this one. I don't own a primer so I was a bit excited to receive this, especially considering it's a full size product. The product is silicone based so it's thick but also oily. I have really oily skin but I thought this went on very nicely for me and made my face feel really soft. You only need a teeny bit to cover everything. It made my foundation go on a little nicer (I think) but I've worn this for about 2 hours now and my face still feels relatively oil free and the make-up doesn't seem like it's budging or melting away. I think it is a bit too oily for me to use as an eye primer.

Be A Bombshell Lipgloss in Hot Mess [Full Size | 14$]
Also included is a fullsize lip gloss which is really nice. Red doesn't suit my fair skin at all or my light hair so I am a little disappointed in the colour. Maybe I will get a black wig in the future and go for a vampy look. I really do like the texture of this gloss however, it's very thick yet not super sticky. This has some really great staying power as well. I also really like the fact that it is scentless/tasteless which too many glosses add too many artificial colours. The packaging is cute and simple as well.

Overall, this bag is a great deal and I'm really excited to see what future products are going to be here next month. I can find myself using every product a few times, besides the Highlighter Sheets. The Eyeliner and Primer will probably become staples. I am overall really pleased with this bag and Ipsy in general.

Here are two pictures of me wearing all the products listed plus some. I realize that red lipgloss really, really doesn't suit me with this hair colour and mixed with a smokey dark eye makes me end up looking like a stripper. Oh well, I was going to use all the products in one look and I've done it! (=^・ω・^=)

Bonus kitty picture.
She really wanted to investigate all the new things I got.
