Eyes Lips Face

For Black Friday sales, I got a mass e-mail from the make-up company E.L.F that they were doing a 50% off sale. I haven't had any new makeup in quite awhile so you know what? I was like, fuck it. I'mma get me some make-up. This stuff is incredibly inexpensive and to some it may have questionable quality. For 50% off, I am completely willing to take that chance. The last time I got anything from them was.. over two years ago? There is quite a lot of different things on the site now and a lot more variation which was nice. I tried to look up as many reviews as I could and make sure I didn't get anything that was a dud and try things that people thought were worth a steal. As for the service? I noticed on their facebook that quite a bit of people were unhappy with the shipping. I placed my order on 11/27 and I got it today. A week and a half isn't bad for me but the processing took a bit longer than normal. They wrote on their facebook that they were completely backed up and I understand that. I placed another order on 12/1 and my order is still processing. Oh well, I'm in no hurry to get those items anyways. The only other downside was when I received my items I was missing a 6$ item so I was a bit unhappy about that and it wasn't circled on the invoice so I didn't receive money back for it. Going to have to settle that with customer service and hopefully they won't let me down. I got quiiiite a bit of items that is a little ridiculous but I don't expect to buy makeup for awhile. :p I'll have lots of fun trying out them out because I went out of my comfort zone and purchased a lot of different things I'm not used to wearing because, since it's so cheap, it's worth it.
Eveeeerything I got. 32 Items. Only 42$ including shipping. Quite nice.
Opening everything was kind of like a fun Christmas present opening hassle. So many little bits everywhere. I counted everything to make sure I had it all but to my disappointment I was missing one item and it was their face primer. Boo! It's the one thing I really wanted to try. Oh well, maybe next time. I bought five different lipsticks because I don't wear lipstick and I thought, for 50c each, why not try? Unfortunately, one of them disattached at the base and while still wearable, it's a bit annoying. The shimmer eyeliners from my first impression seem quite worth it. I can't attest the staying power but the colours are pretty and it is quite shimmery.

I also got this special Holiday edition nail polish kit. I'm not a huge nailpolish junky and usually stick to black with shimmers. Quite boring, I know. I thought this would be nice to try a lot of winter themed colours and see what I like. The kit is 15$ but 50% it comes to 7.50. It comes to 50c a nailpolish which isn't bad at all. They are quite small however at 0.2 oz each. They are most definitely my teeniest nail polishes. The top left, Fairy Dust however is suuuper pretty. I want a full sized version of that because it is a glowy sparkly top coat. I heard the quality of these polishes can be quite bad but I'm hoping a good top coat can hold their wearability. The colours are all very pretty and it extends my little collection quite a bit.

So, I picked out a few items that I will make special mentions about because the others don't really need much explaining. The one thing that caught my eye was the Small Smudge Brush. What the hell? Why are they two different sizes? haha. It's bizarre because they are the same thing but yet they are in two different packaging and they look quite different as well. I'm just perplexed by this. I hope they perform the same because these little brushes are my favourite! I used one of my eyebrows already, but I wanted one for eyeliner and lips. They are very handy little tools.

Also, just wanted to note about the Glitter gloss that they are gorgeous! So sparkly, I love it. The diamond isn't necessarily 'diamond' or white, but more neutral. The only downside of them, is that I took them out of the container and they were so much teenier than I imagined. The packaging is a little deceptive. You see how big they are now? That's how big they are out of the box as well. Sneaky sneaky.

Speaking of deceptive sizes, the make-up mist and set is also quite a bit more small than I imagined. I swore, I saw this line at Target and it was a bit bigger but that could be my imagination. For 1.50 though, I'm not really complaining. Also, if there is one thing I could recommend from this company is the HD powder. I think this stuff works magnificently. It's a really wonderful setting powder that I thought was very similar to the MUFE HD Powder except a billion times cheaper. You get a very generous amount and it really makes my face look flawless. I have the original one already that has lasted me almost a year already and I have quite a bit left. This time, they added new colours and I decided to try 'Shimmer'

The only reason I note the Lip Exfoliators is because they sent me an extra one by accident which was a happy surprise. I heard that these are quite pleasant especially around Winter for dry lips so I hope it's true because I now have an extra!

The last things I'll talk about is the essential make-up collection. These are the things I've heard are the most iffy so I thought I might as well give it a shot for 50c each. Things work for certain people, others quite don't so might as well try it myself, eh? I know the eyelid primers are quite decent and I've tried the mineral ones and they've been okay. I don't know how it pairs up to Urban Decay's primer but these are good enough for me. I took a bit of a chance on the powder and concealer since I heard their colour matching is awful. The mascara, I thought as well, why not? I wear false eyelashes most of the time so mascara really isn't a huge deal to me anyways. I also received the Luminance Bronzing powder which is a very pretty highlighting shimmer colour. I've used this in the past and it is quite fragile. You need to be a bit careful with it. I was disappointed with my last one because I dropped it and it shattered into tiny pieces. I think it's worth a try from the dollar line however.

The last thing.. this blush brush. Wow, it is tiny! The studio line brushes are all pretty decent from what I've heard. I've tried the infamous Powder Brush and I will say when they first came out, I received one and it was amazing. So incredibly dense, no shedding. It is really lovely and I still use it. The second powder brush I bought was about a year ago and it was completely different. Not as dense.. much bigger. I thought, wow, this is completely different. I was really disappointed. I also have a big fluffy 'Complexion' brush and I'm not a fan of that either. They're just too damn fluffy and not dense enough. I want dense!! I feel I may have the same problem with this one but the tiny size might turn out to be an advantage.

Anyways, this turns out to be quite a long post because new things are always a fun thing to get excited about! I'm sure I'll do more reviews of these things in the future as I've only talked about my first impressions of them in the packaging. I know there's quite a bit of people who are interested in opinions about this brand because everyone is always looking for a good deal and this is one of the most inexpensive make-up brands out there today who is constantly having new deals. I should be receiving another make-up package from E.L.F sometime in the next few weeks so I shall be posting another one of these soon as well. ^____^~
