Eyebuydirect Review

About a month ago, I ended up breaking my glasses. Boo. They were only about 6 months old so I was pretty disappointed. The frames were pretty cheap however but I needed new glasses pretty fast. I discovered Eyebuydirect. Buying glasses online can be mighty sketchy and you need to know your prescription to get them and thankfully, the whole process went well! This was my whole buying glasses experience starting at beginning~
Boo hiss. Granted, after I bought these glasses, I wasn't a huge fan of the shape and colour of them. It looks especially bad with purple hair and I couldn't coordinate red well enough with my outfits most of the time. Most people usually have multiple pairs and I don't, so oop. They also broke clean down the middle so there was no salvaging this baby unless I glued it together and it wasn't worth the effort. I got these from walmart and thankfully I was able to go back and grab my prescription from them since it was less than a year old. If you don't know your prescription or have a copy of it, then you can grab one from your eye doctor if it's within the past year. If it's more than that, they will probably say they can't give it to you and make you take a new one.
In the meantime, I had to wear these glasses. They're fug and I've had them since I was 16 and they were really beat up, crooked and the lens is scratched right in my sight. Also, the prescription is a lot weaker than my current one. I had to make do with wearing these lopsided on my face with a huge blind spot in the middle. However, we make do with what we have and I was, at the least, thankful that I had a backup!
Alas,  I went to the internet looking for online glasses retailers. After some research, I thought my best choice was ordering from eyebuydirect. They have a really big selection of glasses and it's very inexpensive as far as glasses/lenses go. I ordered on the 14th and they came the 23rd which wasn't bad. If you're in urgent need of glasses, you're going to be waiting longer than you'd like. These glasses are so inexpensive that I'd recommend buying multiple pairs. For the frames, lenses and shipping it was 27.11$ Quite a steal compared to my former glasses that cost around ~130. One could wonder if they're bad quality or if it's a scam buuuut...
Here are the glasses! I picked out these frames which were only 7 dollars. Honestly, I never go for more expensive frames because I am quite clumsy and a little careless with my glasses [ala above] and cheap frames last me a decent amount of time. Thick plastic frames are also a lot more durable for me. I thought they looked cute and I liked the colour so I thought I would absolutely get them. They're a bit smaller than my black glasses which is good but they're also a nice decent size. They weren't crooked or bent funny and they fit my head just fine. They were very clean, brand new, and they supply you with a nice magnetic case and a microfibre cloth. It did take my eyes a little to get used to the prescription as I had been using my weak one, but now all is fine. They're a little tight but I think I just have a big head. One thing I must stress however is that you need to measure your current glasses because there are lots of measurements provided on the site (The arm length, the dimensions of your lenses, nose width and overall width). There also should be xx-xx-xx measurements on your current glasses on the arm as you can very faintly see in my above pictures. I found really cute glasses but unfortunately my head falls in the category of the large/long glasses so I couldn't budge. I would recommend getting them as close as possible to your measurements or else you run the risk of them not fitting right at all (and it wouldn't be their fault since they're pretty good at providing the exact mm's). I am really happy with this company thus far! I hope to order more backup pairs in the future. I did read bad reviews which made me a little wary, but overall this was a fantastic experience and I'll definitely order more glasses with them in the future.

Game Winter Sale Part 2

Now, it's been about 1/3 of the way into all the Holiday sales. There are starting to be some repeats but I have managed to pick up some other nice deals~

Saint's Row: The Third
I was most excited for this game to go on sale. I didn't really pay attention to this series but my SO got this game in the THQ humble bundle and I was so fascinated by how ridiculous and funny this game was, that I had to pick it up. Unfortunately at the time, I just missed the fall sales as well so I was waiting for Christmas! I picked this one up at 75% at 7.50 for the complete edition with all the DLC. I'm not a huge fan of visual DLC as I like to earn it myself in the game but the actual gameplay ones are a must. The full package is also on sale right now on Amazon for 7.50. I just really love how over the top and fun this game is. I totally recommend it.
Lego Batman 2
I haven't played this one yet, but I think Lego games are really cute and I'll give a more in depth opinion on Lego series in the next game. I mostly picked this one up because it was bundled together with the Harry Potter games on Amazon for only 13.99. A really great deal at around ~4.60 per game, especially if you strive for completion in a video game, these will last quite a bit. Lego Lord of the Rings was also highly recommended and it is on sale for 7.50 as well. I thought I'd have enough time with these games that I can wait on that one. I've also never seen Lord of the Rings so I wouldn't understand it very well. Oop. I've also read that this and Lord of the Rings Lego ar
e the only games to feature voices. Lego's with voices..

Lego Harry Potter 1-4 / 5-7
I completely disregarded Lego games when they first came out as I'm sure quite a few people did. When I first got my Wii, I also got a free copy of Lego Indiana Jones which I sold to Gamestop for like.. 3 dollars. I should have given it a chance! They looked like they were meant for babies and probably wouldn't interest me. Lego Harry Potter came out and it totally changed my mind. It replays through lots of the story and it is plain adorable and cute. The gameplay is simple but there are some puzzles that can confuse you. It's really fun on multiplayer [but beware, there is only local co-op] and you just constantly explode blocks and collect coins. If you like Harry Potter, this game is totally recommended. These games are really fun. These two games are included in the ^ batman bundle. The controls on the computer are wonky but still playable but it is also playable with a usb controller. These games may not be everyone's cup of tea with it's lack of depth, but it's a cute and enjoyable casual game that allows you to play through a beloved series.
Coconut Queen
This was more of a very random impulse buy for 2.50 off of steam. It looks cute and had positive reviews from what I've seen on the internets. From all the reviews I've read, it seems like a fun build a lot type game. So, I'm going to guess that you build lots and lots. The concept is cute as well, you're a lady who ends up as an island where they take her as their queen. I'm not particularly good at time management games, but for I thought I'd give this a try. ^_^

Okay that's all for now~

Game Winter Sale Part 1

It's that time of year when all the games go on sale especially the infamous Steam sale. I was preparing for this and there isn't that many games I want/need right now but I did pick up a few inexpensive ones and since it is going on from December 20th to January 6th, there is going to be lots. Also, Amazon has also stepped it up and has pretty great deals that I have been keeping an eye on. Here's what I have bought so far. There will probably be more similar posts in the future as the sales go on. ^___^
Humble Indie Bundle 7
Humble Bundle has really been stepping up their game. Their last bundle which was the THQ bundle was a huge hit and  their next one is nice as well. 6 indie games for dirt cheap as long as you match the price of only ~6.40. I mostly got this because of Dungeon Defenders and all of it's 23 corresponding DLC which goes for 12.49 on Steam right now. I'm not really interested in the other games but I'll either give them a try or give them away. It's a great deal and nice to support indie developers. I've been enjoying these Tower Defense games lately and this one has a lot of great features and all of the DLC will keep me busy for a long time. The only downside to this game is that it's not great solo player so make sure you have someone to play it with. I heard it can get grindy but I'm totally okay with that. (I enjoyed D3)
Orcs Must Die 2
Orcs Must Die 2 is pretty similar to Dungeon Defenders since it is also a Tower Defense game. The biggest difference is that you only get two characters in this version. It also has elements of a FPS since you have to be fairly active as well in addition to strategically placing your traps. You don't just sit around, it makes you take a fairly active role. I really like this one so far and it's only meant for two players and I can imagine it being pretty difficult with one person. There's a lot of neat traps to try and a decent amount of replayability. There is a lot of different upgrades and customization with your kit. This game is well worth it for the time you can put in. It was 9.99 for a 2 pack plus all the DLC.

Secret of Monkey Island Special Edition
Steam is also holding a "Vote for the Next Deal on Steam" poll. This was in the first poll and I'm glad it won. I've been wanting to play this game for forever now. DOS games are a pretty big part of my childhood and I still own my original Secret of Monkey Island disc. When I read that they were making a remake, I was a bit adamant about the idea but was pleasantly surprised by the outcome. It pretty much retained all of it's originality but with 'better' graphics. Better in quotations because some people do prefer the nostalgia of the old ones. I'm enjoying the new ones and there's a fantastic option to switch between the two anytime you want in the game. The voice acting is also a nice welcome addition and it's a great game with funny dialogue and an amusing storyline. I'm really pleased that the second game received this treatment as well because I never got to play it, so it will be something new for me to enjoy in addition to the first game. The Special Edition bundle for these two games was 3.74.

Faerie Solitaire
This game was quite a random purchase but I was perusing through some of the deeper hidden deals. I found a random review for it that said your friends may find this questionable, but it's a surprisingly simple but addicting game. I thought, it's only 1.24 so I may as well give it a try. It's really cute and very simple but it's a very good casual game. It's quick learning and although the gameplay hasn't really changed for me yet, it gives you different objectives every round. You also find random eggs and raise this little 'pet' and evolve it through playing. You also earn money every round that you can use to buy upgrades. I think it's well worth the price and I've already played for 3 hours and didn't get that far yet so it's nice that there's a lot of gameplay for what it is and although it is simply solitaire, it's a nice relaxing change of pace if you want to play something while watching tv, ect.

That's all for now. Expect more in the near future. ^_^
Hopefully there is some great deals in the near future!
