Japan Crate February 2015

My first Japan Crate!
I was really excited to try a Japanese Candy box~ It was between Skoshbox, Oyatsubox and Japan Crate but ultimately I settled on Japan Crate since their premium box was more appealing. It promised at least two candy kits and a drink and 2 pounds worth so I thought, for a bump up from the original for 5 dollars I'd try it!

Sooo here was everything in the box!

I really like how their card is laminated and has a comic on it that I forgot to take a picture of (^_^;;) It shows the contents of each box so you know what you may have missed out on if you decided to go with the mini+original versions.

So, here is what all came in the Premium box.
Starting with what came in only the mini.

Kizami Dried Squid
"Salty, chewy and slightly sweet. Dried Squish is a coastal alternative to traditional beef jerky"

My boyfriend was most afraid of this one but I have eaten this type of squid before.  The first thing you notice when it's opened is that it has a VERY strong smell. I think it may put one off at the very first whiff.. but honestly it doesn't taste like it smells! Once you get past the smell, it is a pleasantly chewy and savoury snack. Would I buy it for myself? Not quite, but it was nice to try once again.

Liquid Mixing Candy
"Includes 3 flavored candy liquids - Strawberry, Ramune and Lemon"

I was really excited to received all of the Candy Kits in this box! This one looks interesting, you just mix and match the flavors to create some sort of candy. I don't know how much I can say about this until I try it but these candy kits will be saved for another post. Most interesting will be Ramune flavour since I don't know it very well!

Otona Milk Pocky
"Traditional Pocky with a twist.
Made for an older palette, experience a harder stick with pie filling and a richer chocolate coating"

I am not a huge fan of traditional pocky but this was pretty pleasant.  It indeed had a much harder texture but overall, didn't taste that much different than the original. I didn't notice the pie filling very much either. It was still pretty tasty! Came in a pretty big box too.

Morinaga Choco Peanut Balls
"Delicious Japanese spin on Peanut M&M's"

Did not like these! Not because they're bad or anything.. I just really hate peanuts and these are very peanuty tasting. (^_^;) Boyfriend on the other hand really loved them and ate them all the night we got it!

That was all for the mini crate!
Now here is what was in the original+mini.

Doraemon Choco Balls
"The chocolate balls are light, crispy and decadent"

I don't have a picture of what the actual choco balls looked like.. but they definitely didn't look like balls! Had a sort of lumpy texture. They tasted a lot like cereal too, like a corn/cocoa puff. They were pretty good though! We managed to finish the whole thing off quickly.

Kracie Colors Animals DIY
"Create many different gummy animals using a variety of colors"

More candy kits!
This one looks cute and fun.

EveryBurger Chocolate Biscuits
"Flakey bun biscuits, white chocolate cheese and chocolate burger patties"

SO CUTE! I love how they really look like burger. Even have the little sesame seeds on them though some did not have them at all. They tasted pretty good too! The white chocolate cheese didn't have much of a taste though. Boyfriend didn't think much of these, but I thought they were pretty great.

Animal Pops
"Create custom colored pandas & lions."

This looks pretty cute!
I don't know how well I will do without the directions
but I am excited to try them!

Anyways, that was all for the original + mini
so here is the rest that was only in the premium box.

Pokemon Sparkling Apple Drink
"A yummy sparkling apple flavored drink in a fun Pokemon themed bottle"

It is super cute!
Have not drank it yet but I am sure it will be tasty (I think??)

Zoo Gummy DIY
"Create 1 of 5 unique animals with this fun DIY - you never know which animal you'll get!"

Another candy kit!
So, for the premium there is four candy kits which is awesome.
This is why I joined especially, to get all of the candy kits.
I don't quite understand this concept though...
so I am curious to see which one I will get !

Ensky Collectible Card Gum
"Each pack comes with a collectible card from the Anime, One Piece.
The Gum itself happens to be delicious as well"

I don't really watch or know One Piece so I wasn't super excited for this item. The cards are really cool though! Kind of foil/holographic. Just wish I knew the character! I did get a laugh at how small the gum was in the big gum package (^_^;;) I can only hope for maybe a Sailor Moon themed item in the future! That would be super amazing.

Anyways, that is all that came inside my candy box!!
I thought it was pretty amazing for the first month and they were super nice throughout all the delays. Wanted to keep all their subscribers updated on the situation and that the box was late AND they promise a nice bonus item in March and April so it makes me want to stick around and see it! For 30 dollars, it may seem like a lot to some people BUT these are hard to find candies. Especially if you live somewhere where they don't readily sell asian candies like I do. 30 dollars is the equivalant to eating one night out at a restaurant for me and the boyfriend so, to get a bunch of tasty things to try together, it was very much worth it for us!

I will happily stick with this box if every box can retain this sort of quality!
Look out for future posts featuring me trying to attempt these candy kits!

I also did a video that you can watch here~!
