That time again for the monthly Japan Crate post!
This will probably be my last review for one of these boxes. After the last one, I was already considering cancelling and this one kind of confirmed it for me. It may be the box for you, but for me, I really want a more varied variety of snacks. Everything is very sweet and I at least wanted a mix of sweet/savoury. Also, maybe more unique candies as well~
But alas!
Here is everything that came with the box
I tried to taste as many things as possible to give a full rounded review of my opinion on the snacks!
And the comic on the back chronicling this Japan Crate Journey
Kami Bikkuriman Wafer
For my first crate, I got a one piece gum with similar packaging to this also having a collector aspect of it. I don't know this trading card game however. The wafer was okay but nothing special. At least the card I got was pretty cute.
Hi-Chew Minis
I was excited knowing these were Hi-Chew since I really think they are super tasty but these tasted kind of like skittles to me. It's ok, but again, nothing special.
Fujiya Fruit Dops
Tastes like fruity hard candies. Has a nice taste but it's not different from what one can get from a similar candy here.
Kantorimaamu Crispy
I got this in the last box and I'm pretty disappointed with getting it again literally right away since I wasn't a fan of it in the previous box (Not to mention my last one was completely broken up in small pieces.) It doesn't really taste any different from your standard grocery store cookie and it's so small that it's hard to make any sort of impression from it. This is my least favourite item in the box.
Meiji White Chocolate
I haven't tasted this but I am going to guess it tastes like a white chocolate bar.
On Shokora Houjun
Okay, finally, something that is of interest to me! This is a chocolate bar with berry bits on the top of it. It's really creamy and it tastes super fruity. It has a great balance of flavours and tastes pretty yummy. Definitely one of the top items.
Animal Pancakes DIY | NeruNeru Ichigo DIY
I have seen videos of both of these DIY kits on youtube so I already kind of know what to expect from them but I'm also excited to try them. Haven't done them but I'm pretty happy with these two items.
Koume Chan Plum
Another item I'm pretty pleased with, I really like these gummy candies. The packaging looks pretty and the gummys themselves are pretty cute and tasty. I enjoyed them a lot and they are also one of my favourite items from the box.
POWER SQUASH
ALL CAPS, YEAH! When we first saw this drink, we thought it could potentially be squash flavour and was slightly disappointed when it wasn't. The flavour combination doesn't sound appealing to me with being a mix between Cotton Candy, Bubblegum and Red Bull. Uhhhh. I'm a little scared to try this.
Glico Kapuriko
Got a very similar cone to this candy last month and I didn't really enjoy it at all. I assume this will taste similar, but only strawberry version. I haven't tried it yet though so I cannot accurately judge it.
Konpeito
The final item in the box which is a bonus item. The packaging is extremely cute and adorable so that's a plus. Sugar stars are pretty prevalent in Japanese animation so it's neat to have my own little bag of them. They taste okay, just like sugar. The overview suggests letting them dissolve but I feel they are pretty flavourless until you bite into them.

If me and boyfriend can give a ranking to the snacks
It would look like this
01. Hi-Chew Minis
02. On Shokora Houjun
03. Koume Chan Plum
04. Konpeito
05. Kami Bikkuriman Wafer
06. Power Squash Drink
07. Fujiya Fruit Drops
08. Kantorimaamu Crispy
The rest TBD.

Anyways, that is all! Sorry if my review seems a little negative but I am trying to be 100% honest. I won't say I like something if I really don't. I gave this box a try for three months to get an accurate gauge of it and I just feel that my enthusiasm went down month after month. Now watch, next month will be amazing and full of savoury snacks (or just like the previous months :p) Definitely try it if you are curious about Japanese snacks but don't go in with too much expectations. This box isn't much of a necessity for me, but hey if you have some money and love snacks, give it a try!
